The US administration has a plan to respond to the use of nuclear weapons, Secretary of State Antony Blinken noted in an interview with CBS News.

Asked if it was a plan that would prevent World War III, he noted that US President Joe Biden is determined to do everything he can to help the Ukrainians defend themselves, as the US is doing everything it can to rally other countries to put pressure on Russia.

“We’re also determined that this war not expand, not get broader," Blinken added.

According to him, the US has expressed concern to Russia regarding "nuclear threats."

“We’ve heard a lot of irresponsible rhetoric coming out of [Russian President] Vladmir Putin, but we’re focused on making sure that we’re all acting responsibly, especially when it comes to this kind of loose rhetoric,” Blinken said. “We’ve been very clear with the Russians publicly and as well as privately to stop the loose talk about nuclear weapons.”

“It’s very important that Moscow hear from us and know from us that the consequences would be horrific, and we’ve made that very clear,” added the US Secretary of State.
