Alexander Lukashenko visited Abkhazia for the first time as president of Belarus. As Kommersant notes, Belarus did not recognize the independence of Abkhazia.

According to the press service of the President of Abkhazia, the meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and Aslan Bzhania was held at the state dacha in Pitsunda.

According to the Belarusian President, his visit to Abkhazia is not connected with any special situation.

"We have a normal situation. We do not suffer from any geopolitics. We are just like you, a peaceful, kind, hardworking people and want to live in harmony. And the economy and trade and economic ties must become the foundation of our relations. There's no other way," said Lukashenko.

The President of Belarus suggested discussing the issues of how to live and strengthen the relations. 

He noted that Belarus and Russia are coordinating their actions.

"Russia is ready to lend its shoulder. The time has probably come. More than ever, we have seen how the world has become.  We will not be allowed to live in peace. Therefore, we must strengthen relations with our friends," he said.
