Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation today with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with whom he discussed the situation in Ukraine, MK reported, citing the Kremlin press service.

The Russian president also gave a principled assessment of the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

The Kremlin statement noted that this is essentially "an act of international terrorism."

"Russia is bringing this issue up for urgent discussion in the UN Security Council," the statement said.

Earlier, Turkish media reported on telephone talks between the president of Russia and Turkey.
