Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that Tokyo will continue its sanctions policy against Russia and support for Ukraine, TASS reported.

Speaking at a plenary session of parliament, he said that the situation in Ukraine has entered a new phase after Russia announced the partial mobilization and accession of four regions to the country. These actions, Kishida argued, had shaken the foundations of the international order.

He expressed fears that a similar situation could occur in the Asian region, and stressed the need to strengthen the defense of Japanese territorial waters and airspace.
