The U.S. intends to introduce new restrictions on exports of semiconductors and microchips to China, The Wall Street Journal newspaper reported, citing sources.

Washington plans to announce new sanctions measures this week. According to the newspaper, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is trying to convince the country's main allies to join the restrictions.

Republicans in the U.S. Senate urged Apple not to use Chinese-made semiconductors, otherwise the company would face the scrutiny of Congress.
