The ambassadors of the European Union have agreed on a new, eighth package of sanctions against Moscow, the Czech Delegation, which currently holds the EU presidency, tweeted.

It explained that the new sanctions were the EU's reaction to Russia's recent annexation of Ukrainian territories. The new penalties are expected to take effect on 6 October.
