Soldiers of other countries should not cross the border of Armenia, which is a member of the CSTO. Speaker Alen Simonyan of the National Assembly (NA) told this to reporters Thursday in the NA, when asked whether it is risky for Armenia to negotiate with Azerbaijan more through Western figures, and whether this will cause Russia's resentment.

"For me, it's all the same. Whether it's based on resentment, it's based on agreements. I have a rhetorical question. Suppose some imaginary adversary crossed the Russian border and because of that Sochi [city of Russia] was emptied. Do you imagine that situation? For me, the security and territorial integrity of our country is important.

We need to make CSTO work. If that mechanism will not work, then it is natural that we go with the mechanisms we are doing now. We made it so that a statement was made, a political assessment was made. Now we are waiting for at least that political assessment. But at the same time, it is not enough for us. In order to ensure the security of our country, we will not wait for something to happen from one side because we have neither the time, nor the space, nor the opportunities to wait for it. It's enough how long we waited!" said the NA speaker.
