A rare pink Williamson Pink Star diamond went under the hammer for $57.7 million at Sotheby's auction house in Hong Kong.

The auction house's website states that the lot sold for HK$453,223,000 (more than $57.7 million).

The diamond weighs 11.15 carats, it is inlaid with smaller diamonds and is in a pink and white gold ring.

The Williamson Pink Star is one of the rarest gemstones in the world, as large pink diamonds, especially those with a saturation of color, are exceptionally rare.
