Students at a local university in Portland, S.C., are demanding the firing of a teacher who told students there are only two genders, the Daily Mail reports.

In a class on creating a positive learning environment, professor Christy Hammer said there are only two genders. Only one student agreed with her. The rest thought there was both biological and social gender. A week later, in class, a student who did not identify herself as either female or male asked again how many genders there were. When she heard the answer that there were only two, she felt uncomfortable. The student did not feel that the instructor in question was qualified enough to teach a class on creating a positive learning environment.

Now students are refusing to attend Christy Hammer's lectures and are demanding that she be fired. The administration has decided to create another course with a different instructor where students can transfer. The professor will also remain teaching, in addition, about two thousand people have signed a petition to keep her employed.
