Repair work at eight nuclear reactors has been postponed due to a strike by workers, the French trade union FNME said, Reuters reported.

The strike affected three reactors at the Cruas nuclear plant, while maintenance of two reactors at the Cattenom and Tricastin plants and one Bugey reactor was postponed because of the strike.

The strike does not reduce power supply to the operating reactors, the FNME added.

French nuclear power availability currently stands at 51 percent of total capacity, with 26 reactors shut down for maintenance.

Strikes by nuclear power plant workers have been going on for weeks, although the actions are sometimes suspended.

According to Emeric de Vigan, vice president of analyst firm Kpler, EDF has faced organizational problems related to maintenance plans for several years, and strikes will exacerbate its problems.

FNME spokeswoman Virginia Neumayer said the union has sent a message of support for striking workers at refineries and gas stations owned by oil giants TotalEnergies and Exxon Mobil.
