A loyal dog saved a young boy's life after smelling his health problems, the Mirror reported.

Seven-year-old Thomas French has been suffering from type 1 diabetes for several years now, and the boy's father and mother have to constantly monitor their son's blood sugar levels. One day the family ate dinner as usual, the test strips Thomas uses after eating showed that his blood glucose levels remained normal.

At one point, the boy's mother noticed the strange behavior of their spaniel, Poppy. The dog was agitated, whimpering and jumping into her son's arms. Suddenly the boy felt sick and lost consciousness. Medics who arrived on the call measured the child's blood sugar and found that it had dropped to critically dangerous levels.

Medics managed to save the child's life; he was taken to the hospital on the verge of a diabetic coma. The boy's mother believes her son survived only because of their dog's scent.
