Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is ready to talk to the United States, other countries, and the Pope to find a solution to the situation in Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported.

French President Emmanuel Macron asked Pope Francis to call Russian and U.S. leaders Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden to resolve the crisis in Ukraine. Macron also believes it is necessary for the U.S. to sit down at the negotiating table to advance the settlement process.

"If this is all in line with a real effort in terms of finding possible unraveling, that can be evaluated positively. But on the other hand, this statement doesn't say anything about anyone having to call Zelenskyy and deal with the legal framework that henceforth forbids any negotiations with the Russian side," Peskov told reporters.

"We are ready to discuss all this with the Americans, the French, and the pontiff. I repeat once again, Russia is open for all contacts. But we must proceed from the fact that Ukraine has codified the non-continuation of negotiations," he added.
