One doesn't have to be Armenian to love Armenia and Armenians, a statement by Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin said, posted on his Telegram channel.

"For the second day I live under the impression: the whole "head of the department of foreign relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia" - former Armenian ambassador to Ukraine has declared my visit to the Republic of Armenia "undesirable". "Unfortunately," he writes, "your recent public remarks about the Republic of Armenia are detrimental to the development of friendly and allied relations between our countries."

Brief, like Hemingway, but without the clarity of his style. What kind of statements? Which period is the last? And how did I manage to "damage relations between our two countries" with my mere statements?

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's relatives were more forthcoming. Pashinyan's wife's paper accused me of holding the Armenian government responsible for losing the war in Nagorno-Karabakh and of referring the issue of plans to create corridors across its territory to the Armenian premier (I wonder if this is true?). Member of Parliament Hrachya Hakobyan, called Mr. Pashinyan's brother-in-law, said jovially that the fact that Armenia has now joined Azerbaijan, which declared me persona non grata in 2010, is evidence of the emerging commonality between the two countries.

I think so too. The commonality is there, "Cosa Nostra." "My deeds are incomparable, my words are magnificent", as Darius wrote about himself in three languages in the Behistun inscription of the 5th century B.C. If "the state of Armenia is Nikol. And that's it," it is clear why I was punished: Nikol Pashinyan can't be blamed for anything.

I am not so bothered by the "public statements of the last period" by Nikol Pashinyan and his associates. I have come to the conclusion that their "last period" deeds are really leading to the separation of Armenia from Russia and, if it turns out, the Russian people from the Armenian people.  They have already led to the separation of the Armenian authorities from the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. Putin alone knows whether we have already reached the point of no return in relations with the Armenian authorities. Perhaps the meeting in Sochi on October 31 will clarify it.

I want to thank deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, parties, NGOs and all Armenian citizens in Armenia, Russia and other countries who since yesterday have been sending me letters of support. It's worth a lot. Please don't think that because of the ban I will change my attitude toward the fraternal Christian Armenian people. I have not changed my attitude, even with the outbreak of war, towards the brotherly Ukrainian people - for which there was much more reason.

You don't have to be Armenian to love Armenia and Armenians!

P.S.: I read Alen Simonyan's rants about himself, Margarita Simonyan, mankurts, etc. I regret that he is not ashamed," the statement says.
