The death toll in a stampede in Seoul has risen to 156, and the updated number of injured is 151, South Korea's interior and security ministry said.

As of 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, the biggest crush in South Korean history in the capital's Itaewon district known for Halloween parties had left at least 156 people dead, another 151 injured and 40 still hospitalized. One of the seriously injured patients, a woman in her 20s or 30s, died Tuesday. There are 29 more such patients, so it is implied that the death toll could rise again.

The dead include 101 women and 55 men. According to the latest figures, 26 foreigners, including four Russians, were among the dead.

President Yoon Seok-yeol declared national mourning on Nov. 5 for the tragedy, which as a whole was the largest loss of life in South Korea since 2014. At that time, 304 people died as a result of the Sewol ferry crash.
