Lydian Armenia may start operating a gold mine on Mount Amulsar, Environment Minister Hakob Simidyan told journalists on Monday.

According to him, the company has a permit to operate and can work. "But I have no specific information, as it is a private organization," the official explained.

Simidyan also said the authorities are trying to find funding for the construction of treatment plants to help solve the Sevan bloom problem.

"Compared to last year the level of Sevan is lower by 13 cm, the level of water intake this year was within the norm. Dismantling of buildings adjacent to the lake, which also contribute to pollution, was carried out. The works will be continued next year", the Minister stressed.
