More than 4.84 million people were affected by Tropical Storm Nalji that struck the Philippines, the National Council for Risk and Disaster Management reported.

According to the agency, 491,000 displaced people remain in 368 evacuation centers. More than 355,400 people have left their homes beforehand. At least 158 people became victims of the storm, 142 were injured in various ways and 34 are still missing. In 13 regions of the country 1.6 thousand incidents connected with the natural disaster were fixed including floods and landslides.

The storm damaged 48,23 thousand houses and destroyed more than 4,97 thousand. Damage to 802 infrastructure facilities is estimated at 4.51 billion pesos ($77,29 mln). As a result of the disaster 523 roads and 132 bridges were damaged, nine airports and 121 seaports were affected. In 363 cities were fixed interruptions in power supply, but in 266 it is already restored, in 37 municipalities there are problems with communication, in six - with water supply.

Classes have been suspended in 666 educational institutions and work at 223 factories. In 522 cities there is a state of disaster. Damage to agriculture is estimated at 3.08 billion pesos ($52.81 million). The government has already earmarked 212.5 million pesos ($3.63 million) for relief efforts.

Tropical Storm Nalji was headed for the northern Philippines, where thousands of people were evacuated in advance from areas prone to flooding and landslides in anticipation of the October 29 landfall. The storm left Luzon Island on October 30 and the Philippine area of responsibility on the afternoon of October 31. An average of 20 typhoons and storms strike the Philippines each year, killing people and destroying homes, roads, and bridges.
