Iran has issued over a thousand convictions against protesters, Iranian judiciary spokesman Masoud Setayeshi said, ISNA reported.

On the eve of the convictions, members of the Islamic Consultative Council (Iran's unicameral parliament) wrote an open letter demanding that Iran's Supreme National Security Council "deal with the protesters as soon as possible," comparing them to terrorists, and calling for retaliation.

"We, the representatives of this nation, ask all authorities of the country, including the judiciary, to deal as soon as possible with the militants who, like ISIS members, threatened the security of our citizens with cold and firearms," the Iranian parliamentarians said in their letter. The MPs stressed that such actions on the part of the protesters were "crossing a red line for the regime, demanding retaliation," and "no compromise is possible.
