American company Tesla recalls more than 40 thousand electric cars in the U.S. because of a potential problem with the power steering. The concern said that the steering system may malfunction on uneven roads or after hitting a pothole, Habr reported.

Tesla has released a software update to recalibrate the system. The company admitted that it is not aware of any cases where the malfunction has led to injuries or fatal accidents.

Specifically, a number of Model S and Model X electric cars manufactured between 2017 and 2021 are subject to the recall. Tesla reported that more than 97% of the recalled vehicles have already been upgraded, leading to a solution to the problem.

In September 2022, Tesla recalled about 1.1 million electric cars due to a faulty automatic window closing system. This number included the company's entire lineup: the Model 3, Y, S and X.

The company has already recalled electric cars several times in 2022. In January Tesla recalled more than 53 thousand electric cars because of an error in Full Self-Driving program. Then the company planned to recall 817,000 electric cars because of problems with triggering of audible signal, which notifies about unfastened belt. Tesla also promised to recall more than 26,000 electric cars due to possible problems with the windshield heating.
