Volvo has revealed its flagship crossover EX90. The model received a new platform SPA2 (Scalable Product Architecture), which is the basis of another crossover - Polestar 3, The Verge reported.

Platform SPA2 differs from other similar platforms with the ability to install traction batteries of higher capacity, powerful electric motors and support for faster and bi-directional charging.

The U.S. electric moto will be a twin-engine all-wheel-drive version with 503 hp and a 111 kWh traction battery, with a range of about 480 km on a single charge. For Europe there will be two versions, one with 408 hp and one with 517 hp. Both with the same traction battery as the US version. Production of the EX90 will start next year in the U.S. But then it will be produced in China.

As for the cabin, it has a digital dashboard and a 14.5" display in vertical orientation to control multimedia features. There are touch keys on the steering wheel.

The producers of the electric crossover noted that EX90 will be the first car with graphics based on the Unreal Engine. Nvidia Drive platform will be responsible for processing data from various sensors. In addition, the car uses Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit platform, which is responsible for the performance and graphics on built-in screens and projection display.

The Volvo EX90 has a LiDAR scanner on the roof, a system of automatic braking, road marking and blind spot monitoring. The developers also noted that the electronics will be able to recognize the state of the driver and determine his fatigue level.

The car's price in the U.S. will be slightly less than $80,000, in Europe the top-of-the-line Ultra with 408 hp will cost € 105,550 and € 110,650 - the version with 517 hp.
