Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said the number of people injured in an explosion in central Istanbul has risen to 81.

The explosion occurred Sunday afternoon on the pedestrian tourist street Istiklal in central Istanbul. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan had previously claimed six dead and 53 injured.

"We have 81 casualties. The condition of two is serious," the vice president told reporters.
