Kuwait has executed seven prisoners. The state news agency KUNA reported that all of those executed were convicted of premeditated murder and other crimes.  Among them were three Kuwaiti men, one Kuwaiti woman, a Syrian, a Pakistani and an Ethiopian.

Kuwait said the executions took place in a central prison, AP reported.

They deprived the victims of their most sacred right in this world, the right to life, the Kuwaiti prosecutor's office said in a statement.

Kuwait has not carried out an execution since 2017, when a mass execution of seven prisoners, including a member of the ruling family, was carried out in a similar manner.

The European Union immediately criticized the executions, which it said coincided with a visit to the country by European Commission official Margaritis Schinas.
