Ten people were injured Thursday night in a gas explosion in Istanbul's central tourist district of Fatih, the DHA news agency reported.
According to the agency, a gas leak occurred during work on a gas pipeline for reasons not yet determined. After the explosion, a fire broke out, engulfing the first floor of the three-story building. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished.
The victims, including the gas workers, were taken to hospital.
Panic ensued in the street because of the incident.
