According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia (RA), the latter’s approximately 60% of the gross domestic product in 2020 fell to the capital Yerevan. Babken Tunyan, Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly, wrote about this on Facebook.

"Besides, the dynamics of 3 years show that the weight of the capital in the economy [of Armenia] has increased; in 2018 it was 54.1%, in 2019—58.4%.

This means that the task of balanced territorial development, which is also worded in the government's 2021-2026 program, is more than current.

Let me note that these data are taken from the RA Statistical Committee's report ‘The provinces of the Republic of Armenia and the city of Yerevan in numbers, 2022.’ The results of 2021 are not yet summed up in this report," added the MP.
