The Cabinet has given a vote of confidence to Alireza Fakhari to assume the position of governor general of Tehran province.

He replaced Mohsen Mansouri, who was previously appointed vice president for executive affairs by order of President Ebrahim Raisi.

Fakhari, proposed by Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi, had been deputy minister of roads and urban development and head of Iran's National Land and Housing Organization before taking up his new post, President.ir reported. 

He also served as deputy governor general of Tehran, head of the Damavand District, director general of the Tehran Municipality Real Estate Organization, board member of the Iranian Road Construction Company and adviser to the oil minister.
