Poland wants to freeze gas prices for households at the level of 2022. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said this, adding that the bill may be submitted to parliament next week, but warned that any such measures may be accompanied by income criteria, Reuters reported.

He said the current tariffs limiting prices for households will expire at the end of 2022, a decision will be made in the coming days.

“We want to freeze gas for all households at a level similar to that of this year", Morawiecki told a news conference. "We will probably decide to have income criteria”, he added.

Earlier, the European Commission proposed setting the gas price ceiling for the bloc at 275 euros.

The EU proposal was at a very high level, Morawiecki said.

The trick is to keep it at a decent level in today's crisis conditions, he added.
