Russian President Vladimir Putin called on CSTO member states to closely coordinate work on key aspects of the Afghan problem.

According to him, it is necessary to continue to work closely with the competent services in order to identify threats of terrorism, extremism and drug-related crime in a timely manner. "And, of course, neutralize these threats with the help of joint special operations and operative measures, which have proved their effectiveness," he noted.

The Russian president noted that the situation in Afghanistan remains undoubtedly complicated. "The danger of infiltration of fighters from various international terrorist organizations into the territory of CSTO states is still great, and the spread of extremist ideology among the population of Central Asian countries increases the risk of activation of radical underground in the region," Putin noted, adding that Russia will assist in stabilizing Afghanistan within the framework of other multilateral mechanisms.
