It is the right of the Armenian side to assess the situation this way, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a conversation with the Rossiya TV channel, commenting on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that he was rather inclined to treat the CSTO work on the situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan as a fiasco.

"This is the point of view of the Armenian side, it is the right of the Armenian side to assess the situation this way. On the other hand, the relevance of CSTO in this situation is obvious," Peskov said before the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Yerevan. Peskov reminded that the authorized persons of the organization visited the zone of contact by the decision of the CSTO emergency summit. "They presented their vision of the situation. Based on that visit of the CSTO representatives, a decision will be made about how to proceed.  So that the CSTO will contribute to the settlement of the situation, to the reduction of tension, could play a peacekeeping role both for Armenia and Azerbaijan, and at the same time the Armenian side dispelled all its doubts," the Kremlin spokesman said.

The CSTO Collective Security Treaty Organization failed to agree on a declaration. Outgoing CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said at the final briefing that two documents were not adopted. They are the draft decision on rendering assistance to Armenia and the declaration. "The document was deemed prepared in general, but needs to be finalized. It was instructed to finalize it and submit to the heads of states for signing. The same applies to the declaration," he said. According to him, this is a normal process; there is no international organization where everyone thinks the same way.
