Greece is facing a threat of war (casus belli) from Turkey, announced Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias.

According to him, Greece is facing a challenge to its sovereignty, a series of hybrid threats, and an open attempt to discredit the country abroad.

He noted that there have been clashes between Greece and Turkey more than once, but the current situation differs in its continuity.

"The crises [in relations between Greece and Turkey] were limited in time and were always followed by a period of dialogue, more or less successful, usually less so. However, this dialogue had the merit of calming the situation. That hasn’t happened this time," the Greek FM said in his intervention at the School of National Defense.

Dendias stated that the crisis in the relations between Greece and Turkey is getting worse and has been going on for three years, if not more. The Greek FM called this unprecedented, noting that Turkey challenges Greece's sovereignty over the eastern islands of the Aegean Sea.
