The State Duma at a meeting on Thursday adopted in the third reading a bill to ban the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations, pedophilia and information that can cause a desire to change the sex, TASS reports.

The document introduces a ban on propaganda of non-traditional relationships, pedophilia, as well as a ban on the dissemination of information about LGBT people in the media, Internet, advertising, literature and movies. There is also a ban on calls for gender reassignment among teenagers on the Internet, in the media, books, audiovisual services, movies, and advertisements.

Besides, there is a ban on the issuance of a rental certificate for a film if it contains materials that promote non-traditional sexual relationships and preferences. The document also provides for the introduction of a mechanism restricting children's access to listening to or viewing LGBT information on paid services. Thus, the requirement to enter codes or perform other actions to confirm the age of the user is established. At the same time, access to LGBT information is prohibited for citizens under the age of 18.

In addition, the law prohibits the sale of goods, including imported goods, which contain information that is administratively or criminally liable for dissemination of such information. Also, the law "On Protecting Children from Information Harmful to Their Health and Development" is being supplemented with an article on the promotion of non-traditional sexual relationships, pedophilia, and information that may cause children to desire a sex change.

Roskomnadzor is given the right to determine the procedure for monitoring the Internet to identify information access to which should be restricted under the federal law on information. The monitoring will be conducted by an organization authorized by the government.
