Disagreements between CSTO countries exist, but past events and the entire past year have demonstrated a growing need for such events, Russian leader spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, RIA Novosti reported.

"No, by no means. There are certain disagreements on certain points that did not, indeed, allow us to sign two documents yesterday. But this does not mean that in any way it threatens the existence of the CSTO. On the contrary. Both the event which took place, and the positions of the sides voiced during the event, and the whole last year have demonstrated the growing need of the participating states for such an organization," Peskov said answering the question whether Armenia's refusal to sign the declaration will affect the fate of the CSTO.

He added that Wednesday's speech on the summit was also exhaustive.

Earlier, Peskov said that Armenia will remain in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the summit in Yerevan confirmed the significance of the event. He also said that during the CSTO summit the conflict between Tajikistan and Kirghizstan was discussed, the work on the settlement is difficult, but it will be continued.

At the CSTO summit on Wednesday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he refused to sign the declaration of the organization's Collective Security Council and the document on joint assistance measures for Yerevan. He expressed the opinion that "the absence of a clear political assessment of the situation may not only mean that the CSTO refuses its allied obligations, but it may be interpreted by Azerbaijan as a green light for further aggression against Armenia."
