Azerbaijan consistently continues to prepare an "information base" for encroaching on the Lachin corridor. To this end, two ministries - the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country - have issued statements at once.

In a lengthy statement, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry made yet another far-fetched accusation of the Armenian side of planting mines.

"On November 23, Major General Andrey Volkov, commander of Russian peacekeeping forces temporarily deployed on the territory of Azerbaijan, Major General Fatih Akpinar, head of Turkish contingent of joint Turkish-Russian Monitoring Center, and Rear Admiral Oleg Semenov, head of Russian contingent, inspected the mined area at the invitation of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense. On November 24 this area was visited by military attachés of foreign states and foreign journalists accredited in Azerbaijan," the statement says. At the same time, the AR Foreign Ministry says that "the abovementioned once again shows that Armenia, contrary to point 4 of the Tripartite Statement of November 10, 2020, did not fully withdraw its forces from the territory of Azerbaijan, as well as grossly violated point 6 of the Statement and transported mines, abused the Lachin road for illegal military activity, committing provocations against Azerbaijan. All this demonstrates once again that Armenia is hindering the normalization process and peace efforts in the region. These activities by Armenia constitute a war crime and a serious violation of international humanitarian law and of Armenia's obligations under the tripartite declaration."

Thus, by disseminating deliberately false and falsified information, the Azerbaijani authorities are trying to create appropriate preconditions to justify a new aggression.
