A delegation of British parliamentarians led by House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Alicia Kearns arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday, the island's foreign ministry said.

"This visit to Taiwan has long been a priority for the Foreign Affairs Committee, A hearty Taiwan welcome to the UK House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee members!" the island's foreign ministry said in a message posted on its official Twitter account. The Foreign Ministry also wished the British MPs a "successful five-day visit."

Taiwan's Foreign Ministry had previously reported that a seven-member delegation from the House of Commons Committee on Foreign Affairs would visit Taiwan from November 29 to December 3. The office noted that during the visit, the British delegation would meet, among others, the head of the island's administration, Tsai Ing-wen, National Security Council Secretary General Lixiong Gu and Foreign Minister Joseph Wu.
