There is a shortage of labor force in the labor market today, and unemployment has reached a historically low level, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the government session on Thursday.

He assured that there are signals from the private sector regarding the problem of finding workers.

For his part, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Narek Mkrtchyan said the unemployment rate for the second quarter of 2022 was 13%, while in 2021 the figure was 14.5%, calling the decrease in unemployment significant.

"The statistical committee reports 9,800 job openings. This year there are 50,400 registered unemployed, down 8,000 from 2021. In the next three years there will be a need for workers in agriculture, construction, trade, information technology, transportation and health care," the official added.
