There was an opportunity and a consensus was reached on many points, but unfortunately there were a few points that were fundamental for both sides and, accordingly, it was recorded that there is no possibility to speak in the form of a National Assembly (NA) statement on behalf of both factions. This was announced by Eduard Aghajanyan, Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and a member of the ruling majority “Civil Contract” (CC) Faction in the NA of the Republic of Armenia (RA), during Friday’s meeting of the aforesaid committee.

The opposition "Armenia" Faction had tabled a draft on the topic, "Statement of the RA National Assembly in connection with the statement of the Parliament of Azerbaijan on November 8, 2022."

"We had the opportunity to have a meaningful discussion with our colleagues of the ‘Armenia’ Faction. An agreement was reached between the ‘Civil Contract’ and ‘Armenia’ Factions to discuss the proposed draft in working order. Taking into account that the draft had to be on behalf of the NA, it was logical that we should have reached an agreed version," Aghajanyan noted.

"As for the CC’s position regarding voting on this matter, I call on our committee members to abstain from voting on the approval of this draft," he emphasized.

As reported earlier, a special session of the NA of Armenia has kicked off at the initiative of the opposition "Armenia" Faction.

There is one matter on the agenda, and it is in connection with the statement by the Azerbaijani parliament on November 8.

"Armenia" Faction MP Andranik Tevanyan will be the keynote speaker and will present the respective draft statement of the NA.
