The motion to commute lawyer Erik Aleksanyan’s custody with a personal guarantee has been denied, legal defender Zorayr Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Fifteen MPs had expressed their willingness to personally guarantee the proper performance of Aleksanyan's judicial duties.

Erik Aleksanyan, a defense attorney of well-known criminal proceedings in Armenia, is charged with assisting an official in misusing his respective powers.

Judge Arusyak Aleksanyan, a defendant in the same criminal case, is also remanded in custody.
