Armenian Ombudsman Kristine Grigoryan spoke about cases of violence and humiliation by the Azerbaijani armed forces against Armenian female soldiers within the framework of the annual international campaign '16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence.'

Violence, humiliation and especially cruel treatment by the Azerbaijani armed forces against Armenian female soldiers during the Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia in September of this year, based on the nationality and gender of the soldiers, are extremely condemnable.

They must be objectively investigated and lead to adequate punishments.

The atrocities committed by the armed forces of Azerbaijan justify the extremely dangerous nature of gender-based violence, especially during international armed conflicts.

It is particularly troubling that reports of hate crimes based on gender and ethnicity were welcomed and encouraged by thousands of real Azerbaijani users during and after Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia on September 13-14 of this year.

The practice of not punishing the perpetrators and not making sincere efforts on the part of states against such public attitudes will only increase the sense of impunity of any perpetrator of gender and ethnic hatred crimes, regardless of the nationality of the victims.
