The military budget of the Pentagon in 2023 will amount to $858 billion - this amount was agreed by the specialized committees of the United States Congress.

In particular, $317,3 billion will be spent on the operation and maintenance of military equipment and property of the Pentagon, another $174,5 billion - for the maintenance of military personnel. In 2023, the Pentagon also plans to spend $161.3 billion on military procurement, and $138.6 billion on research and development. Smaller amounts - $30.5 billion and $16.5 billion - are for nuclear energy activities and construction of housing for military personnel.

Separate items in the military budget are counteraction to Russia, for which it is planned to spend $6 billion, as well as to support Ukraine - $800 million.

The defense budget assumes the allocation of $800 million for the initiative to promote the security of Ukraine, under which support and assistance is provided to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the explanatory notes said.

The text of the draft budget also states that the U.S. will seek Russia's exclusion from international organizations - including the G20.

Last year, the U.S. Congress appropriated $778 billion for the Pentagon budget.
