Armenia welcomes the readiness of certain EU countries to continue the monitoring mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, said Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Wednesday, responding to the questions of MPs.

The minister recalled that the mission will be completed on December 19-20. Yerevan supports the idea of prolonging it. The Minister noted that no one doubts the objectivity and impartiality of the Mission. At the same time, he called the observers' assessment very important for further international processes

"It is important to understand where the Azerbaijani units are and where the Armenian units are. The observers also record the civilian infrastructures on the territory of Armenia, which were destroyed as a result of Azerbaijani shelling. Besides, the presence of the mission can prevent further escalation of the situation," Mirzoyan explained.
