Israeli President Isaac Herzog has sent a letter of condolences to Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan in connection with the terrible tragedy that claimed the lives of Armenian soldiers in a January 19 barracks fire.

"Israel has national experience with the deaths of its soldiers. We know firsthand the shock and pain that accompanies cases that brutally cut young lives short in an instant.

Strength to you and my prayers as you comfort the families, friends and colleagues of the victims who are in mourning. I wish the victims a full and speedy recovery, both in body and spirit.

I sincerely hope that the year 2023 will bring you and the people of Armenia peace and harmony," the letter says.

On January 19 a fire broke out in the shelter of engineer-sapper company of the N-th military unit of the Armenian Defense Ministry, which resulted in the death of 15 servicemen.
