Turkey's Security Council will discuss Sweden's and Finland's applications to join NATO on Wednesday, Anadolu news agency reported.

According to the agency, the meeting of the council will be the first in 2023. The meeting is scheduled to discuss the situation in Ukraine, the fight against terrorism in light of operations in northern Iraq and Syria.

Separately, the situation in Sweden, where provocations against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Holy Quran have recently taken place, will be touched upon. In light of these provocations, there will be an exchange of views on Sweden's and Finland's applications to NATO, the statement said.
