Georgi Avetisyan, Head of the Food Safety Inspectorate Body of Armenia, on Tuesday submitted his resignation in this capacity to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Avetisyan issued a respective statement that reads as follows in particular:
"I want to thank Mr. Prime Minister for entrusting me with such accountable position and for supporting me. (…). I thank all businessmen who were not found to have violations as a result of inspections, all public organizations who criticized us and our work and contributed to the solution of the problems. I thank all the international institutions that supported, support and will support the establishment of the [food safety] domain. Thank you to the journalists who raised sharp questions and drew our attention to the problems. I thank the educational and scientific institutions of the domain. I thank all state structures with whom I cooperated. I thank demanding consumers.
Let specialists and the public evaluate what I have done for the domain. I believe those who come after me will do what I have not managed to do.
The decision is mine and I have nothing to add.
Time will tell what I will be engaged in [next].
P.S. I ask the journalists to be content with this writing."
