A 32-year-old man was killed while hunting in Kansas because a dog accidentally shot a man with a rifle lying in the back seat of a pickup truck, BNO News reported, citing the Sumner County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened Saturday near the Oklahoma state border. The investigation revealed that the man was in the front passenger seat of the pickup, and there was a rifle and hunting gear in the back seat.

The investigation concluded that the dog had stepped on the rifle belonging to the owner of the vehicle. The man suffered a gunshot wound to the back and died at the scene. The resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
