Berlin airport canceled all flights scheduled for January 25 due to a strike of the German trade union Verdi, the air harbor said in a statement on its website.

According to the Bloomberg agency, about 300 flights have been canceled. The decision would affect more than 35,000 passengers.

The union called to join the strike of employees of ground transportation and flight safety services.

Passengers need to brace themselves for flight delays and cancellations, the statement said.

Germany's Verdi union is reportedly demanding a €500 wage increase for employees whose contracts are for one year. The employer can offer longer-term contacts while maintaining the current wages.
