After the fire that broke out in the Surp Pirgic (Holy Savior) Armenian Catholic Church in Istanbul, various publications began to be written in Turkey about the miracles of this church.

Hurriyet daily spoke about the founding of this church and the miracle that happened after that.

Accordingly, the foundations of the Surp Pirgic Armenian Catholic Church were laid in 1831, and the consecration took place on January 13, 1834.

When the church was opened, there was a plague in Istanbul at that time. The Armenian clerics of the church took permission from the then Sultan Mahmud II and carried the icon of the Mother of God sent from the Vatican in the streets of Istanbul and prayed that the plague would disappear. And after a very short time, the plague disappeared.

The residents of Istanbul linked this miracle with the aforesaid Armenian church, and everyone rushed to it.

And as an appreciation, Sultan Mahmud II presented to this Armenian church an ornament made of high-quality diamonds with eight corners, which is hung on the icon of the Mother of God every Easter.

On Monday evening, a fire broke out in the accommodation of the Surp Pirgic Armenian Catholic Church, as a result of which a 75-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman died.
