Turkey now has nothing to talk to Sweden about the NATO membership process, the situation is going backwards, said Omer Celik, spokesman for the ruling Justice and Development Party.

Swedish-Turkish relations have deteriorated over the past few days with protests in Stockholm and the burning of a Quran by Rasmus Paludan, leader of the Danish far-right party 'Hard Line', after Swedish authorities obtained permission to hold the action. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Jan. 23 that Sweden should not count on Turkish support for its NATO bid.
