Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in Brussels on a working visit, on Wednesday met with Toivo Klaar, the European Union (EU) Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, and Magdalena Grono, Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the European Council.

The foreign ministry of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am that the parties emphasized the decision to deploy a new EU civilian monitoring mission in Armenia, noting that this will contribute to ensuring security and stability in the region.

The situation created as a result of the illegal Azerbaijani blockage of the Lachin corridor—which links Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia—was discussed, too. In this connection, the Armenian FM stressed that Azerbaijan, with its actions and rhetoric, is undermining Armenia's efforts to establish peace in the South Caucasus.

Views were exchanged also on the process of normalizing Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
