Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is on a working visit to Brussels, met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on Wednesdday, the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on regional security and stability issues. Minister Mirzoyan praised the decision to deploy the EU civil monitoring mission to Armenia.

Ararat Mirzoyan drew Josep Borrell's attention to the humanitarian crisis sparked by Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor in Nagorno-Karabakh.

It was noted that in accordance with the provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9, Azerbaijan must immediately cease the blockade of the Lachin corridor. The Armenian side stressed the importance of effective steps by the international community to prevent the Azerbaijani policy of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the EU High Representative discussed the developments around the Armenia-Azerbaijan settlement process.

The sides also touched upon the Armenia-Turkey normalization process. Issues related to the further development of the Armenia-EU partnership were on the agenda of the meeting, as well.
