Copper prices are down Thursday morning ahead of the release of a number of U.S. statistical data, trading data shows.

March futures on copper on the Comex exchange fell by 0.44% to $4.2435 a pound (about 0.45 kilograms).

At the end of Wednesday's trading on the London Metal Exchange (LME), the cost per ton of copper with delivery in three months remained at Tuesday's closing level of $ 9314.5, aluminum - rose by 0.3%, to $ 2658.5, zinc - by 0.61%, to $ 3450.
