Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday accused Israel of a sharp escalation of violence in the West Bank, while U.S. Secretary of State Anthny Blinken called for calm on both sides and reiterated Washington's commitment to a two-state solution, Reuters reported.

Calling for a complete halt to unilateral Israeli actions that violate signed agreements and international law, Abbas reiterated the Palestinians' long-standing demand for Israel to end the occupation.

According to him, they are now ready to work with the U.S. administration and the international community to restore political dialogue to end the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
