A Taiwanese resident has been sentenced to two months in prison and a fine of NT$3.04 million ($91,350) after his pet parrot injured a doctor.

According to the Taiwan Central News Agency, Dr. Lin dislocated his hip joint and suffered a broken pelvic bone after a fall caused by the bird.

It landed on his back and startled him by flapping its wings.

The court found that the owner had taken this bird and another macaw for a walk near where Dr. Lin was jogging.

Dr. Lin sued the owner of the parrot and the macaw for negligent injury as well as a civil suit for financial loss.

He told the court that because of his injuries he was hospitalized for a week and was unable to work for more than six months, taking six months to recover, including three months of special care.
